\nSwiss German University (SGU) held an Orientation Week (Program Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus bagi Mahasiswa Baru \u2013 PKKMB) event for the new students on 13-17 August 2018, which began with the opening from the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at SGU, Dr. Irvan S. Kartawiria, S.T., M.Sc. The event took place at Swiss German University campus at The Prominence Tower, Alam Sutera, Tangerang.
\nThis year’s Orientation Week took “Esprit de Corps” as the theme, which means to develop a sense of care for others. By raising this theme, SGU hope that the young generation of Indonesia will have not only sympathy but empathy for others.

\nOn the first day, there was an introduction from the Orientation Committee about the Student Organization in SGU, which providing an explanation about the functions and roles of each organization and its benefits for students. One of SGU alumni from the batch 2013 of Pharmaceutical Engineering study program, Krissan Malinda, was also present to share about her experience during her study in SGU and after graduating from SGU, he immediately got a job that matched her passion and interest.
\nThe new students were provided with a motivational session raising the “Esprit de Corps” theme shared by Jessica Farolan from the Aethra Learning Center. She shared about the meaning and importance of human relations, building a community of empathy, not just sympathy.
\nThe last session on the first day, the introduction of the faculty by the dean and the head of the study program (Kaprodi). Introductions from the departments of Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering (IE), Information Technology (IT), Life Science and Busness Administration & communication. Representatives from the department explained to new students how to study in each department from theory to practice.

\nOn the second day, SGU invited Dr. Victor Pudjiadi SpB., FICS., DFM., a representative from the National Narcotics Agency (Badan Narkotika Nasional \u2013 BNN) who shared about the dangers of drugs to the human body. He explained what are the consequences if students consume different types of narcotics.
\nThe agenda then continued with the Academic Department that shared about academic regulations in SGU. SGU\u2019s Student Organization: Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM) and Majelis Permusyawaratan Mahasiswa (MPM) also provided information related to Student Clubs in SGU and all the organization structure.

\nOn the third day, the new students obtained some information about SGU\u2019s supporting system, which includes the Directorate of Facility Management, Public Relations department, Information System & Service department, and the Library department. This session aimed to provide information on how they can have support from those departments and directorate in relation to their future study in SGU. SGU\u2019s Student Clubs were also present during the third day. They shared about extra-curricular activities that the new students can join in SGU. Each Student Club provided an explanation about their club\u2019s activities and benefits.

\nOn the fourth day, the new students carried out team building games throughout the day in order to strengthen cohesiveness and unity among the new students. The Student Regiment (Resimen Mahasiswa \u2013 MENWA) also took part during the Orientation Week 2018 by holding a practice on the flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the 73rd<\/sup> anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia that were held in the next day.

\nOn the last day, SGU held a flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the 73rd<\/sup> anniversary of Indonesia\u2019s Independence Day. All SGU staff, lecturers, and students were enthusiastically present in this ceremony. SGU also invited its university and industry partners throughout Indonesia and also\u00a0 MENWA from Universitas Islam 45 dan Sekolah Tinggi Islam Nurul Imana. The five-day event was closed with the talent performance from each group of the new students.
