Sunday, December 3, 2023<\/b> – fifth-semester students from the Food Technology program at Swiss German University (SGU) proudly presented the results of their semester-long projects. The focus of their endeavors centered on the development of chili-based products, including chili candy, and banana flour-based snacks like snack bars. Additionally, the students demonstrated how to create chili candy products to local women entrepreneurs engaged in Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM).<\/span><\/p>\n

This impactful Community Service initiative, titled “Development of Chili and Young Banana Flour-Based Products in Semawung Village, Purworejo,” was conducted in collaboration with Atma Jaya University Yogyakarta and Sanata Dharma University. The goal was not only to showcase innovative food products but also to empower local UMKM entrepreneurs with new skills and knowledge.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the event, the Food Tech students, accompanied by their professors, Mrs. Maria Gunawan and Mr. Tabligh, presented the banana flour processing technology to Mr. Samud Purnomo, the head of Semawung Village. This exchange of knowledge aimed to enhance local capabilities in producing banana flour and, in turn, boost economic opportunities in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n

The collaboration between SGU and the partnering universities highlighted the commitment to community development and knowledge-sharing. The students’ dedication to creating viable, chili-based products demonstrates the potential for innovative solutions in the food industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

The hope is that the creative endeavors of SGU’s Food Tech students will not only contribute to the academic landscape but also lead to tangible benefits for the broader community. By imparting their knowledge to local entrepreneurs, these students are actively participating in the socio-economic development of Semawung Village and beyond.
