Meeting between SGU and Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA)

On 15th of April 2015, Swiss German University, represented by Dr. –Ing. Evita H. Legowo as the Coordinator of Sustainable Energy and Environment Study Program, Dr. –Ing. Samuel Kusumocahyo as the Dean of Life Sciences and Technology Faculty, Hery Sutanto, M.Si. as the Head of Chemical Engineering Department, and Kho I Eng, Dipl.-Inf. as the Vice Director of Community Service – Academic Research and Community Service (ARCS) visits the Office of Conoco Phillips at Ratu Prabu 2 building, West Jakarta, to meet the Board member of Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA).

Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) is an association of 
company who hold a percentage working interest in petroleum and/or geothermal rights within Indonesia, organizations who are associated in other ways with petroleum and/or geothermal industries in Indonesia, including but not limited to petroleum service companies and similar organizations, educational institutes, and non-profit organizations considered by the Board of Directors important to the petroleum industry,

In this meeting, SGU delegates presented a topic: “Role of Human Resources in Ensuring Sustainable Energy in Indonesia”. As the first University provides Sustainable Energy (SEE) program under Chemical Engineering Department, SGU is leading in the preparation of human resources to this growing field, renewable energy. With the decreasing amount of conventional energy (oil and gas) resources, many companies including IPA members worldwide are now working on developing renewable energy, not only produces biogas and biofuel, but other alternative energies. Brought good news to the energy world, the presentation was well responded. IPA and SGU aware that there is limited educational institutions providing these specific human resources to work on renewable energy fields.

API agreed to provide internship places on the 3rd semester and the scholarship possibilities for SEE students. This meeting also opens the IPA door to have a scientific research cooperation and Corporate Social Responsibility with SGU. As our first cooperation, SGU will join the IPA membership as educational institution associate member and will participate on the upcoming IPA event: 39th Convention & Exhibition 2015 on 20-22 May 2015 in JCC, it is a 3 days knowledge-sharing forum for industry professionals (geologists, geophysicists and engineers) from around the world to share their experience.
