SGU’s innovative Communication Science program combines the study of media, communication, and culture. Students will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in one of the fastest-growing global economies.

The Global Strategic Communication curriculum focus on combining the study of media technology, public relations, journalism, strategic communications, and culture with an emphasis on international exposure. SGU prepares students with vast international exposure in language, learning materials, lecturers, and internships. We also facilitate two professional competency certifications that are Junior Public Relations from PERHUMAS Public relations certification program (LSP PRI), and Digital English Journalism Certification from The Jakarta Post Foundation.

The subjects in our Communication Science Programme are taught by excellent faculty members from Indonesia and abroad. They all have comprehensive experience in international businesses and education. Our uniquely productive intercultural learning environment offers students ideal conditions to prepare for their professional careers.

Students will get compulsory introductory subjects and orientation activities such as practical training and workshops in the first three semesters. After that, they can decide on  one of

two concentration that they are interested in :

1. Public Relations and Reputation Management

Nowadays, Global Strategic Communications have developed into an important part of every organization. The strategic communication process includes image building, branding, and reputation, effective conflict and crisis management, integrated communication strategies, marketing, and advertising, policy and decision making, also relationships and networks.  At SGU, we prepare students to successfully plan, implement, and evaluate public relations strategies in international and multicultural contexts.

2. International Journalism

In this global era, Journalism has become much more than just collecting, writing, editing, and presenting news in the media. The concentration of International Journalism at SGU is geared towards integrating different forms of journalism practice within a framework of technological, political, and cultural change. Our graduates in International Journalism enter the job market as professional journalists, equipped with economics, politics, culture, and sociology knowledge.

The internship in the 6th semester allows students to experience an intercultural working environment at first-class companies in Germany, Switzerland, or other countries. By the time you graduate, you will not be regarded as an inexperienced fresh graduate. Instead, you will be a highly competitive job candidate with work experience, professional competency certifications, and vast international exposure.
