Food Technology: International Experience in Learning Food Science

Swiss German University’s Food Technology Program Study offers the opportunity to join a fast-growing food industry. A unique combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experiences gained during two internships, in Indonesia and Germany, provide our graduates with appropriate skills in science and technology, together with creative and innovative flair.

Students, not only learn about farm-to-fork science but also engineering and business. Here, we learn how to run and also create an industry that will feed more people with safe, tasty, and healthy food.

The Food Technology SGU curriculum is defined by the Indonesian Association of Food Technologists and the Institute of Food Technologists. There are two main reasons why you should study food technology at SGU :

1. Focus on industrial and international experience

When graduated, students will have a double degree between a bachelor’s degree in SGU and a college in Germany. Education conducted under the license of the Indonesian Ministry of Education Regulation and in conformity with the German Education System.

We use an International oriented curriculum delivered in English and German since students start college. All classes, laboratory practices, lecture materials, and thesis are conducted in English. Some of the classes and research activities can be conducted in the partner universities abroad.

We also have a large portion of the internship period (9-14 months) and project-based learning. Students undergo an internship period of 9 to 14 months.

2. Intensive and tailored learning experiences

Small classes are designed to allow discussion and role-play to support depth and understanding. A personalized approach that allows each student to apply individual strength. Character and soft skill building through research and community service projects that are integrated into study courses.

SGU’s Food Technology Department graduates have plentiful career opportunities in more than 300 food-related businesses. They are including food product companies, ingredient industries, and food-related machinery and equipment supplier corporations. Additionally, they have the prospect as consultants, researchers, analysts, and entrepreneurs.

SGU Food Technology offers 2 curricula:

  • Single Degree
  • Double Degree at Albstadt-Sigmaringen University or Fachhochschule Südwestfalen
