SGU Alumna Delivers Guest Lecture on Investment Banking
On Tuesday, 7th of March 2017, the Accounting Study Program conducted a Guest Lecture event, delivered by SGU alumna, Ms. Amalia Khaeriah Abidin. The event, which was attended by many students from Accounting and BA-Finance, took the opportunity to provide students with broader knowledge in the field of Investment Banking. Ms. Amalia who graduated from the Accounting department in September 2016, is now working at JP Morgan, a giant financial institution from the US, now classified as the biggest investment banker in the world.
A lot of materials were shared by Ms. Amalia, discussed recognition of the company toward her performance as an SGU alumna among other graduates from well-known universities, the recruitment process of JP Morgan, and the product and services that JP Morgan provides investors. These products and services are related to the area of Global Corporate Banking, Currency Emerging Markets, and Treasury Services.
In an upcoming project, Amalia has been assigned to the Currency Emerging Market Division, dealing with Fixed Income Businesses, Foreign Currency Exchange, Derivative Instruments and Money Markets. SGU Accounting and BA students were very excited to hear about her experience and tips.
During last year’s Graduation Ceremony, Ms. Amalia received an award in the category of non-academic excellence – the ‘EY Kanter Award for Distinguished Achievement’, inspired by Major General Empi Yohan Kanter who served nobly in the New Order (Orde Baru). This award is given to students who are active and excel in college, who has a positive character and attitude on and off the campus. The study program wishes her good luck and hopes more great success stories for SGU Accounting alumni.
