SGU Strengthens Cooperation With IMI Switzerland
Swiss German University (SGU) Hotel and Tourism Management (HTM) study program strengthened its cooperation with the International Management Institute Switzerland (IMI), by sending a lecturer to IMI Switzerland, which is a part of the realization of the cooperation between SGU and IMI.
Mr. Robert La Are SST. Par, M. Par., a HTM lecturer, was sent to visit IMI Switzerland 17 – 26 March 2017. Part of the agenda was to monitor the students who are conducting their internship program at IMI, to conduct a discussion on the progress of the cooperation between the institutions that has been carried out and to assess the long-term cooperation.
The other agenda was lecturer exposure for lecturers from both institutions to be able to share knowledge. In this agenda, Mr. Robert got the opportunity to conduct a guest lecture at IMI. The lecturer from IMI, on the other hand, also shared knowledge to SGU students in Indonesia. Mr. Robert also taught a lesson on how to prepare one of Indonesia’s traditional beverages, the Bir Pletok, to the students of IMI. This lecturer exposure program showed that SGU and IMI have the same standard in delivering international quality education for the students.
So far, the cooperation SGU-IMI has produced qualified and competent HTM graduates. Evidently, the HTM graduates have been accepted at numerous international hotels both in Indonesia and abroad. In fact, before they graduate, some awards (mostly the best trainee award) were achieved by SGU student interns. Thus, the cooperation between SGU and IMI is expected to be maintained, so that it can make a better synergy in the future.
