Chief Economist of PT. Bank Mandiri (Persero), Tbk Gives Guest Lecture to SGU Students

On 13 September 2017, Mr. Anton H. Gunawan, the Chief Economist of PT. Bank Mandiri (Persero), Tbk and the Executive Director of Mandiri Institute, shared his understanding and knowledge with 115 students and 15 lecturers of SGU during a Guest Lecture session held at SGU campus at The Prominence Tower, Alam Sutera.

The topic shared by Mr. Anton H. Gunawan, who is also the President Commissioner of PT Mandiri Manajemen Investasi, was “Globalization, Investment, and Strategy: A Collaboration between Industry and Higher Education”. The topic is needed to update the students with current issues in the economic field.

Countries today strategically pursue regional development and economic diversification to compete in the world market. Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are at “the root” of this global strategy. The challenges are how the higher educations could drive and sustain innovation and entrepreneurial activity by using an innovation strategic approach like the Penta Helix model. The Penta Helix approach consists of five pillars, which are academic, business, government, association and media. The role of HEIs in adopting this approach is to develop an innovation network for business and social innovation. They should also create opportunities for implementing innovation culture. It likewise seeks, indentifies and details strategies and workable programs.

It suggest the creation of a network channel to allow key players in the innovations network to share innovation information and to collaborate with each other.
