Business Administration Students Excursion to Bandung Startups: Halallocal & eFishery
In order to add insight and experience for students regarding the concept of a developing digital business, the Business Administration study program invited 4th semester students to visit startups in the Bandung area, namely Halallocal and eFishery. This activity took place on Thursday 4th April, 2019. Each startup operates in different fields. Halallocal is a startup under PT. Astrajingga Digital Innovation that is engaged in the field of halal tourism, which has seen a boom in recent years. The product is the apps that help Muslim tourists who want to travel out of town and abroad to be more comfortable in knowing the location of the nearest mosque, halal restaurant, prayer times, and Qibla direction. Currently, Halallocal is also developing apps with plans to provide features that can provide information whether the content of food is halal or not. Our arrival was welcomed by the Halallocal CEO, Ms. Nurma Larasati and the CMO, Mr. Inayatullah. On this occasion, students were also given the opportunity to present their digital business plans by pitching in front of the Halallocal CEO and CMO. This was very useful for the students because they received insight not only from lecturers, but also from digital business people. eFishery is a business engaged in the fisheries sector, which provides an Internet of Things (IoT) solution and data platform for fish and shrimp farming businesses. The startup’s device allows for smart automatic feeding, making it easier for farmers to monitor and schedule feeding times using a smartphone app. This technology can also help increase feed efficiency as well as daily growth; multiplying the profit of fish and shrimp farmers. This visit opened the students’ thinking that there are still many other fields that could be used as business and students also gained a lot of insights on how to start a business, especially digital business.
