The 2nd Annual Meet The Lecturer's 2015
July 4th, 2015 – Swiss German University (SGU) held an event to prepare both parents and students of year 2015 for global competence through the “Meet The Lecturers” event at SGU Campus – BSD City. The event was held before the start of the new academic semester that will commence in the third week of August, with the purpose of giving an overview of SGU, including future development plans, core values, learning philosophy, and essential academic matters – making it a valuable opportunity for parents to meet lecturers and discuss their childrens academic needs. The event was attended by approximately 400 parents and students who were eager to prepare for their rewarding education experience.
The event was opened by Director of Communications, Christie Kanter, who expressed her gratitude the parents and students who trusted SGU in preparing for global success, and introduced the lecturers from all study programs. During the event, the Rector of Swiss German University, Dr.rer.nat Filiana Santoso gave a presentation titled ‘SGU Towards Global Competence’ – providing explanations of the new curriculum and lecturer qualifications, which are essential a high quality, globally competent education offered at SGU. “Our lecturers are equipped with professional experience from related industry and 90% earned their academic degrees abroad. We place high importance on student counseling, which is why there is a very small gap between lecturers and students, something that can’t be found in other universities”, she said. She later added that SGU also fosters students to gain industry-based knowledge and skills, not only theoretical, which is why each study program often hold excursions to large, high profile companies who have become our industry partners. The event continued with a faculty session where parents and students met directly with the lecturers to discuss academic matters, including career paths, details of the curriculum, internship, and other things related to academic and non-academic activities at SGU.
The event was a huge success and reassured those in attendance of the future potential that could be reached with SGU.
