Information Technology of SGU Join Competition as Finalist

May 2015, Bachelor of Information Technology. Student from Swiss German University, joined an IdeaFuse ACM ICPC Multi-Provincial Algorithm and Programming Competition. This competition was organized by STMIK-STIE Mikroskil, Medan and supported by ACM (Associative for Computing and Machinery), Aptikom (Association of University of Informatics and Computer Science) and Kopertis I regional Nangroe Aceh Darussalam and North Sumatera. ACM ICPC Multi-Provincial is a national level. Competition as opposed to the Regional Level (South East Asean) and then International Level.

In the first stage or elimination round, SGU was represented by 13 IT students divided into 4 teams. This elimination round was held online through on Sunday, 10 May 2015 over 4 hours to answer 8 programming questions. Around 100 teams from more than 25 universities in Indonesia took part in this elimination round. 1 SGU team succeeded and became a top 30 finalist.

The finalists had to go to Medan to join the Final Round on Saturday, 23 May 2015. The Final round is attended by 30 teams from around 10 universities. The SGU IT Team consisted of three 4th semester students; Christian, Jason Yapri and Tommy Winarta, accompanied by their lecturer, Mr. Maulahikmah Galinium. There were 10 programming questions which had to be answered over 5 hours. This is the first experience for IT SGU to join programming Competition. The result is very promising, as the SGU Team ranked in the top 15. Even though the team is not eligible for the next stage in Regional Level, they gained a lot of valuable experience during this competition.
