The Closing of the First Phase (Bachelor) of BaMa (Bachelor-Master) Program under the Academic Cooperation between SGU and ATMI Cikarang

Swiss German University (SGU) and Akademi Teknik Mesin Industri (ATMI) Cikarang organized a Phase-1 closing ceremony of the Bachelor–Magister (BaMa) cooperation program on Monday, May 8, 2017 at the ATMI campus, Cikarang. SGU and ATMI have maintained a long academic relationship since 2010, but this unique BaMa program was first started in 2015. 29 students joined this program, and 6 students succeeded in achieving a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) above 3.50 and were therefore awarded the Dean’s List Award. One student, who achieved a GPA of 3.80, has received a Master degree scholarship to the USA.

The BaMa cooperation program, managed by SGU Faculty of Engineering and IT (FEIT-SGU), is an academic collaboration program created based on FEIT-SGU and ATMI commitment to develop qualified human capital of ATMI Cikarang in both academic and research areas. In this program, the Bachelor and Master of Mechanical Engineering concentration of Mechatronics conducted a class of 29 selected employees from ATMI, with  Diplomas (D3) in Engineering, to join the Bachelor-Master (BaMa) program. BaMa is a single degree program  with English as the academic language.

Despite being attended by SGU lecturers and all BaMa students, this event was also attended by distinguished guess Prof. Dr. Uman Suherman AS, M.Pd. (Coordinator of Kopertis region IV), Mr. Dasril (Director of United Tractors), Mr. Yohanes C. Sutama (The Head of Automotive study program – Polman ASTRA), Mr. Sri Sadono (Director of United Tractor School), Dr. Resdiansyah, ST., MT (Director of Engineering Polytechnic Indorama), Dr. med. Frans Tshai (Chairman of SGU foundation), Rm. Benedictus Bambang Triatmoko, SJ (Chairman of ATMI foundation), Mr. Yap Hong Gie (Secretary of SGU Foundation), Dr. rer. nat. Filiana Santoso (SGU Rector), Rm. A. Hendro Subekti, SJ (Director of ATMI Cikarang), and Dr. H. Dadang Solihin, M.A. ( Rector of Darma Persada University/UNSADA).

The closing ceremony program was opened with thesis product exhibitions from BaMa students and photo playback of the students’ study journey. The session continued with an executive speech from the ATMI and SGU Rectors, a speech by the Foundation Chairman of ATMI and SGU, a speech by Coordinator of Kopertis region IV, a handover report of phase-1 of the BaMa program, a memory book presentation from the Dean of FEIT-SGU, Dr. Ir. Gembong Baskoro, M.Sc, and a plaque presentation to the Chairman of the ATMI foundation.

Furthermore, as an appreciation to the late Prof. Houtman Siregar, who contributed to the initiation of the BaMa program, the Rector of SGU presented a “Tali Asih” to the wife of Prof. Houtman Siregar’s wife, who had been specially invited to the closing ceremony.

The ATMI Director hopes through this cooperation program, SGU and ATMI will be able to produce highly qualified individuals. He also stressed that to be successful, people should develop their EQ, not only their IQ.
