Inauguration of The SGU Industrial Engineering Alumni Association and Alumni Forum

On October 17th, 2015, Swiss German University, a pioneer in international curriculum and dual degree programs in Indonesia, held the inaugural SGU Industrial Engineering Alumni Association and Alumni Forum. With the event theme “Investing in Us (Past, Present, Future)”, the inauguration ceremony was organized by both alumni and the student organization of the Industrial Engineering Department. The formal association of Alumni of Industrial Engineering was inaugurated for the first time. This association intends to give alumni of SGU’s Industrial Engineering department a formal place to share their thoughts and ideas for the development of SGU as well as to strengthen the relationships between both alumni and existing students.

Irwan Dani was appointed to be the first President of the Industrial Engineering Alumni Association by all participants. The inauguration was attended by the President of Swiss German University Alumni Association – Ir. Win Sukardi, M. Eng, MM, MBA, M. Hum, C.P.M., the Head of Industrial Engineering Department – Dr Tanika D. Sofianti, the Deputy Head of Industrial Engineering Department – Ir. Triarti Saraswati, M.Eng, Ir. Invanos Tertiana, MBA, the committee of Alumni Association Inauguration and representatives of SGU Industrial Engineering student body.

Dr. Ir. Hari Santosa Sungkari, MH, who is the Deputy of Infrastructure at Creative Economy Institution of Republic of Indonesia, and also the owner of PT Mitra Mandiri Informatika, was invited to the inauguration ceremony as a guest speaker. He shared some valuable insight with the students and all alumni. The discussion was very interesting, relaxed and interactive.

The 3rd session of this event was the “Alumni Sharing Session” (which was held for the first time in January 2015), where the alumni shared their experiences from when they were students, and how they have transitioned into the world of work. Many stated that assignments and projects they had as part of their learning activities at SGU Industrial Engineering escalated the construction and development of their knowledge. The local and overseas internship programs enriched their experience as well. As a recommendation for the students of Industrial Engineering at SGU, the speaker suggested some important points to be considered when developing their career path through experience, networking as well as maintaining a strong will to continue to learn new things.

More than 100 alumni and students of Industrial Engineering at SGU participated in the event, held at Swiss German University Campus in BSD City, Tangerang.
