The Indonesian Fintech Festival & Conference 2016

On the 29th & 30th of August 2016, the Business Administration department of Swiss German University (SGU) took its undergraduate students, specifically the first semester and the fifth semester banking and finance concentration, to the Fintech Festival & Conference 2016 which was held in the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE). The Fintech Festival & Conference 2016 holds a series of events that hopes to establish a shared understanding of harmonious development of the fintech ecosystem among industrial stakeholders and also create new trends and cultures of financial technology in Indonesia.

Indonesia Fintech Festival and Conference is an event held by both the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin). The purpose of the joint event is to bring together stakeholders of the Fintech industry, ranging from financial institutions, investors, startup businesses, fresh-graduates to even undergraduates. Accompanied by two lecturers from the BA department, Ms. Margaretha Lingga & Mr. Moch. Riyadh Rizky Adam, the students from SGU were given the opportunity to join the festival and participate in the different events that took place.

During the course of the two-day event, students witnessed opening remarks from Mr. Rosan Roeslani, the current chairman of The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and also from Mr. Muliaman Hadad, the chairman of the Financial Service Authority. The current president of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, and several other honorable speakers such as Sri Mulyani, Indonesia’s current Minister of Finance also gave brief speeches during the second day of the event. In addition, the students of SGU took part in the coaching sessions as well as seminar and conference sessions that were held. The Fintech Festival & Conference 2016 came to a close with a brief speech by Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.
