Leadership Strategic Study of SGU Master Programs at Lemhannas-RI

On Thursday March 5, 2015, a delegation from the Swiss German University (SGU) Master’s Programs including faculty members and students of Master’s of Business Administration (MBA), Master’s of Information Technology (MIT), and Master’s of Mechanical Engineering (MME) conducted a leadership strategic study at the National Resilience Institute of the Republic of Indonesia (Lemhannas-RI). The delegation was led by Dr. Ir. Gembong Baskoro, MSc., Dean of Faculty of Engineering & IT together with Dr. Badikenita Br Sitepu, SE, M.Si. of MBA, Prof. Ir. Houtman P. Siregar, M.Si., Ph.D., Head of MME, and Dr. Ir. Moh. A Amin Soetomo, M.Sc., Head of MIT.

Initially, leader of the delegation, Dean of Faculty of Engineering and IT paid a courtesy call on the General Secretary (Sestama) of the Lemhannas-RI, Komjen. Pol. Drs. Suhardi Alius, M.H. along with officials of Sestama Lemhannas-RI and expert lecturers. The Dean, on behalf of Swiss German University, extended his greeting and gratitude on the opportunity given to the SGU Master’s programs for a leadership strategic study at Lemhannas-RI. During the courtesy call, Sestama of Lemhannas-RI and Dean of Engineering & IT, SGU shared a similar view on the importance of leadership with nationality awareness for Indonesia’s future leaders in particular for Master’s students of SGU. They also explored possibilities of cooperation between the two institutions. Towards the end of the cordial meeting, Sestama Lemhannas-RI presented books as token memento to the Dean of Engineering & IT as a welcoming gesture.

After this courtesy-call meeting, the program started with a general lecture entitled “National Leadership: Opportunity or Threats Towards Indonesian National Resilience” facilitated by expert professional lecturer (Taprof) of Leadership at Lemhannas-RI, Mayjen TNI (Purn) Albert Inkiriwang, S.IP, MM, PhD moderated by expert lecturer (Tajar) of Leadership Dr. H. Dharma Kusuma, M.Si. During the very inspiring lecture, Mayjen TNI (Purn) Albert Inkiriwang emphasized of the importance of leadership as fundamental to defend the Unitary States of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) in order to lead to its development. Therefore, a leader must have courage together with a strong character and sense of nationality in order to solve problems faced by the nation such as bilateral issues, violence, human rights, poverty, terrorism, disease, and other crimes/issues.
Meanwhile Dean of Engineering and IT, Dr. Ir. Gembong Baskoro, M.Sc. revealed that in the future, Master’s students of SGU will take leadership positions in their respective fields. Therefore, it is important to provide students with knowledge of leadership combined with nationality awareness. It is also expected that Master’s students can develop their thinking in a comprehensive, holistic, and integral view and act as statesmen. The Dean expected that students would maintain their identity as Indonesians as well as continually improve their National Awareness and strengthen National Resilience in order to cope with the globalization era.

Finally, on behalf of the SGU Master’s Programs, the Dean of Engineering & IT (FEIT) expressed his gratitude to all who had supported this visit andpresented a token memento to Mayjen TNI (Purn) Albert Inkiriwang, S.Ip., MM, PhD as the facilitator, Brigjen TNI Sudibyo, SE as Chief of Cooperation of Lemhannas-RI, and to Dr. H. Dharma Kusuma, M.Si. as expert lecturer of Leadership at Lemhannas-RI. The visit closed with a photo session.
