Meet Rosa: One of Our First SEE Graduates
In this 2017-2018 academic year, the first batch of Swiss Germany University Sustainable Energy and Environment (SEE) students will proudly graduate. The SGU SEE study program began its unique approach in the field of energy and environment in Indonesia four years ago.
One of SGU’s proud students, Rosa Belinda, recently defended her thesis with the title of “Modification of Pyrogallol with Palmitic Acid as a Soluble Biodiesel Additive”. Her thesis was funded by Kementerian Riset dan Pendidikan Tinggi (KEMENRISTEKDIKTI) through the Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PKM). Her research aimed to provide an alternative solution for the insolubility problem of the commonly used antioxidant in biodiesel. The idea was to produce an antioxidant molecule which is more soluble in biodiesel. The improvement on the oxidative stability of biodiesel can indirectly support the development and utilization of biodiesel, specifically in Indonesia.
“I am glad and proud to finally graduate as the first batch of SEE study program at SGU,” said Rosa after passing the thesis defense. She also mentioned about the most challenging moment during her study journey. “The most challenging moment was finding an internship place, both in Indonesia and Germany, as we were the first to establish the network with the companies.”
After her graduation, Rosa plans to work for a couple of years to apply her knowledge in the field of energy and environment in Indonesia. Then, she wants to continue her study, pursuing a Master’s degree.
SGU wishes the best luck to all of the first batch of SEE study program! See you on top!
