MIT and MME Orientation Day
Master of Mechanical Engineering (MME) and Master of Information Technology (MIT) welcomed new students in an “orientation day” event at Swiss German University (SGU) on Saturday, 27 August 2016. In this happy event, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, Dr. Ir. Gembong Baskoro, M.Sc., gave a welcoming speech and encouraged the new students not to only pursue the fulfillment of academic requirements for the master degree, but to contribute to society during study in the MME or MIT programs. This was followed by a speech from the head of the MIT study program, Dr. Ir. Mohammad A. Amin Soetomo M.Sc, who welcomed the new students and described the MIT study program. The head of the MME study program, Dena Hendriana B.Sc., S.M., Sc.D, greeted the new students, explained the MME program and introduced team members.
In the academic discourse session, Dr. Adhiguna Mahendra, S.Kom., M.Kom., M.Sc., MSV., MSR, one of the MIT lecturers, presented about ‘The increasing opportunity in the area of internet business’, using examples such as Gojek, Uber, bukalapak, etc. Business in the area of IT can generate such a large revenue with such a minimum investment. Also in this session, Dr. Ir. Widi Setiawan from MME gave a presentation on ‘nuclear science related to health and manufacturing industries.’ Technology of nuclear science is very important in the health industry, such as X-ray machines, as well as in the manufacturing industry, such as nuclear instruments to measure thin film thickness accurately. Nuclear technology is used not only for weaponry, but also for health, manufacturing and other peaceful industries, and recently its usage has been increasing.
