SCIENCE ICON 2016 – THE CROWNING NIGHT
Science Icon is an annual event organized by the Faculty of Life Science and Technology. The purpose of this event is to find and develop academic and non-academic potencies of high school students. This year, Science Icon 2016 with the theme of Foodiology: Local Food Processing for a Healthier Life is a wrap! Like any other so-called pageant contests, the 15 finalists from various high schools were inaugurated with several titles at the crowning night, which was held on May 7th, 2016 at The Breeze, BSD.
The crowning night took around 2-days of preparation, starting from the talent show, science fair until the performance for the night. They were occupied heavily with various things since the previous days, not to mention their school works. However, together with the committees, they did have a lot of fun! Apparently, three weeks had really strengthen their bond. As for the D-Day, they started their morning by having a breakfast and doing an interview regarding their experience throughout the competition. The rehearsal followed for around 3 hours until mid-day then they were allowed to prepare themselves along with their make-ups.
Exactly at 6:00 PM, the show began. Brought by 2 MCs, the 15 finalists were introduced and immediately did their very first catwalk. Recalling their modelling class last week, it boosted their confidence thus the catwalk was breathtaking! Their poses, their expression, and of course their dresses and tuxedos too. And! Their final performance, singing all together “Don’t Stop Believing” which they choreographed and arranged themselves gained a lot of attention from the crowd. Following this, the finalists did a short question and answer sessions with the judges and were eliminated one by one, leaving our very anticipated winner.
Accumulating the scores since day 1, Orrick Clayment from Binus International School Serpong was crowned as the Science Icon 2016! Congratulations, Orrick!
