SGU and Bappeda Tangerang Regency Join Forces to Boost Local Economy through Product Innovation
Tangerang, September 4, 2024 – Swiss German University (SGU) and the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Tangerang Regency have established a strategic partnership to drive regional economic growth by developing local products such as mangroves, candlenut oil, and tempe semangit. The Cooperation Agreement was signed by Assoc. Prof. Ir. James Purnama, M.Sc., Director of the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) at SGU, and Dr. H. Ujang Sudiartono, M.T., Head of Bappeda Tangerang Regency, during an event followed by a focused group discussion (FGD).
The FGD, themed “Hexa Helix Collaboration: Enhancing the Economy in Tangerang Regency through Mangrove, Candlenut Oil, and Tempe Semangit Products,” highlighted the economic potential of these local resources. Key regional and community representatives attended the event, including Dra. Hj. Anna Ratna, M.Si., Head of the Micro Business Cooperative Office of Tangerang Regency, Mr. Miftah, Head of Sepatan Timur Subdistrict, as well as officials from the Department of Manpower (Disnaker), Department of Social Affairs (Dinsos), Department of Community Empowerment and Village Government (DPMPD), and the Department of Industry and Trade of Tangerang Regency, along with other government officials.
During the discussion, experts from SGU presented research findings relevant to improving the local economy. Dr. Kholis Abdurachim Audah, M.Sc., Ph.D., a lecturer at SGU, shared his research on the sustainable utilization of mangroves. Tabligh Permana, M.Si., presented two key studies: the research on candlenut oil by Dr. Hery Sutanto, S.Si., M.Si., and the study on tempe semangit by Maria Dewi P.T. Gunawan Puteri, M.Sc., Ph.D., both of whom are SGU lecturers. These studies highlight innovative approaches with the potential to support regional economic growth and promote small business development.
This collaboration between SGU and Bappeda Tangerang Regency marks a significant step in creating sustainable economic innovation through the utilization of local resources. The initiative aims to create new opportunities for local industries while empowering communities through skill development and product innovation.
