SGU and Strategic Partners Discuss Indonesia’s Digital Transformation, Prepare Master’s Curriculum in Digital Transformation Management
Tangerang, August 28, 2025 – Swiss German University (SGU) continues to strengthen its position as an international higher education institution committed to producing job-ready graduates. In anticipation of the rapidly growing digital economy, SGU is finalizing its Master’s Program in Digital Transformation Management with a distinctive approach: designing a curriculum based on industry needs as well as input from government, associations, and professional practitioners.
On August 23, 2025, SGU collaborated with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), and the Association of Digital Government and Smart Indonesia (ADIGSI) in a national seminar titled “Digital Transformation Opportunities and Challenges in Indonesia.” The event featured a public discussion on the urgency of digital transformation in Indonesia, as well as a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) that specifically addressed the design of the Master’s Program curriculum in Digital Transformation Management.
SGU Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Samuel P. Kusumocahyo, emphasized the importance of involving multiple stakeholders in curriculum design. “Since its establishment, SGU has had a vision of applied sciences, where every graduate is not only strong in theory but also practical and professional. Therefore, we always pay close attention to the feedback from industry partners and government to ensure that the curriculum we develop is truly relevant to real-world challenges,” he stated.
Input from the seminar and FGD highlighted several critical issues in Indonesia’s digital transformation, ranging from the need for reform in digital-based public services, inter-agency data integration, infrastructure readiness, to the urgency of enhancing digital talent. From the business sector’s perspective, some of the main focuses include gaps in digital literacy, cybersecurity, and inconsistent regulations. These insights will serve as SGU’s considerations to ensure that graduates of the master’s program not only understand technology but also possess managerial and leadership capabilities in driving transformation.
The curriculum for SGU’s Master’s Program in Digital Transformation Management covers a wide range of knowledge areas, including enterprise architecture, IT governance, cyber resilience, and digital business models & strategies. In addition, students will study digital law and ethics, organizational change management, as well as agile methodology and design thinking. The FGD also recommended strengthening case studies in cybersecurity, digital policy analysis, practical digital literacy materials such as Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and discussions on information geopolitics.
Through this approach, SGU aims to produce graduates of the master’s program who can serve as business leaders in digital transformation, capable of orchestrating change across various sectors—government, SMEs, healthcare, education, and other industries. This aligns with the national agenda of Indonesia Emas 2045, which positions digital transformation as the key to building transparent and inclusive governance, as well as a highly competitive digital economy.
The official launch of the Master’s Program in Digital Transformation Management is scheduled in the near future. The presence of this program further underscores SGU’s role as one of the pioneers in Indonesia in bridging academia, government, and industry within a higher education ecosystem that is relevant, applied, and future-oriented.
