SGU Invites International Students to Experience Indonesian Culture Through Culture Trip 2024 Tangerang, August 31st , 2024
Swiss German University (SGU) has once again organized one of its annual events, the SGU Culture Trip 2024, as part of its commitment to introducing the richness of Indonesian culture to international exchange students.
This event is attended by students from various countries who are continuing their studies at SGU, one of the first international private universities in Indonesia known for its double degree programs and global collaborations.
This year’s SGU Culture Trip offers an authentic and interactive cultural experience. Students are invited to visit Puspo Budoyo, a cultural center that provides them with the opportunity to learn traditional Indonesian music, such as gamelan, and to get creative in a tie-dye workshop—a fabric dyeing technique rich in history.
Following that, the trip continues to Ardor Coffee Training BSD, where the students have the chance to learn about the process of making Indonesia’s renowned coffee.
Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Samuel P. Kusumocahyo, Rector of Swiss German University, expressed his hopes regarding this event: “The SGU Culture Trip not only provides our international students with an in-depth experience of Indonesian culture but also strengthens their connection with the local community. Through activities like this, we hope to foster mutual respect between different cultures and create a generation of global leaders with open minds.”
As a university that remains committed to developing a global network, SGU not only accepts students from Indonesia but also from various countries. SGU has three main faculties: the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT), the Faculty of Life Sciences and Technology (FLST), and the Faculty of Business and Communication (FBC). One of SGU’s main strengths is its double degree program, which allows students to earn degrees from two universities in one study program.
This strong international collaboration involves leading educational institutions such as the International Management Institute Switzerland, Solbridge University in South Korea, Fachhochschule Südwestfalen, Hochschule Albstadt-Sigmaringen, and Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena.
In addition to facilitating international exchange students and offering double degree programs, SGU also has an EduTrip program specifically designed to provide Indonesian students with the experience of studying on international campuses.
Through EduTrip, participants can experience the academic atmosphere and learn about local cultures in a short period. In 2025, SGU will conduct an EduTrip to South Korea, where participants will visit Solbridge University and Seoul National University to gain direct insights into the education system and culture in South Korea.
With activities such as the SGU Culture Trip 2024 and the innovative EduTrip program, Swiss German University demonstrates its commitment to providing students with a comprehensive learning experience. Students are not only prepared academically but are also equipped with an understanding of cultural diversity, which is a valuable asset for success in the global arena.
