SGU Signs 2024 Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Research Grant Contracts : Promoting Technological and Scientific Innovation
On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, Swiss German University’s (SGU) Academic Research and Community Service (ARCS) held a ceremonial event to sign research grant contracts for the 2024 fiscal year funded by Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Research Grant Contracts of Republic of Indonesia.
The ceremony opened with a speech by SGU’s Rector, Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Samuel P. Kusumocahyo, who expressed his pride in the researchers’ accomplishments. He highlighted the crucial role of applied research in advancing science and technology to benefit society at large.
Two SGU researchers were awarded Kemdikbudristek’s prestigious applied research grants for the 2024 fiscal year. These grants aim to support research projects with significant potential for technological and innovative development based on local resources.
The first recipient, Maria Dewi P.T. Gunawan Puteri, M.Sc., Ph.D., received funding for her project titled “Application of Vegetable Broth Processing Technology from Tempe Semangit for Developing Plant-Based Food from Local Non-Soy Beans.” Her research was granted IDR 258,500,000 (two hundred fifty-eight million five hundred thousand rupiahs).
Maria Dewi’s research focuses on developing technology to process vegetable broth using tempe semangit, a uniquely flavored fermented tempe product, to create high-quality plant-based foods from local beans other than soybeans.
The second recipient, Kholis Abdurachim Audah, M.Sc., Ph.D., was awarded for his research titled “Mangrove Plants as a Model for Discovering Sustainable Biodiversity-Based Medicinal Materials in Indonesia.” His project received IDR 367,760,000 (three hundred sixty-seven million seven hundred sixty thousand rupiahs).
Kholis Abdurachim’s research will investigate the potential of mangrove plants as a sustainable source of medicinal materials, utilizing Indonesia’s rich biodiversity to discover bioactive compounds for medical applications.
SGU hopes that these grants will continue to support and motivate researchers to generate innovations that benefit society and the environment. The signing ceremony of the research grant contracts marks a significant moment in SGU’s commitment to leading the development of science and technology in Indonesia.
