Strengthening Cybersecurity: SGU Hosts Workshop on Security Operation Centre (SOC) in Collaboration with ACAD – CSIRT

Monday, November 27, 2023, Swiss German University (SGU) played host to a significant event as it welcomed a visit and workshop focused on the Security Operation Centre (SOC). This event was organized by the Master of Information Technology (MIT) program at SGU in collaboration with the Academy Computer Security Incident Response Team (ACAD – CSIRT). Attended by approximately 50 participants from various campuses across Indonesia, including notable institutions such as Universitas Katolik Atmajaya, Amikom Jogja, STMIK IKMI Cirebon, UBSI, Universitas Telkom, Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika, Universitas Bina Insani, Universitas Buana Perjuangan Karawang, Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Bandung, Universitas Budi Luhur, Universitas Komputer Indonesia, Universitas Nusa Mandiri, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, Universitas Pradita, Politeknik Siber dan Sandi Negara, and a dedicated team from ACAD – CSIRT.

Mr. Charles Lim, the Deputy Head of MIT SGU, expressed his hope that the event would enhance cybersecurity capabilities in monitoring cyber threats and incident response within the participating campuses. He expressed gratitude for the smooth execution of the workshop, anticipating that it would have a positive impact, particularly in strengthening the cybersecurity of higher education institutions and contributing to the overall cybersecurity of Indonesia.

Professor Eko Indrajit, the Chairperson of ACAD – CSIRT, shared his aspirations for the newly established SOC resulting from the collaboration between SGU and ACAD – CSIRT. He emphasized that the SOC could assist local universities in monitoring anomalies or cyber traffic on their networks. Prof. Indrajit also expressed a commitment to building networks for collaboration in responding to cybersecurity incidents within the academic community.

The workshop not only provided valuable insights into the latest developments in cybersecurity but also fostered collaboration and knowledge-sharing among diverse institutions. SGU remains dedicated to being at the forefront of initiatives that contribute to the enhancement of cybersecurity capabilities for the benefit of academia and the nation at large.
