On January 14, 2016 the Academic Research and Community Services (ARCS) Directorate of Swiss German University (SGU) successfully held a seminar on Molecular Diagnostics, Proteomics, and Drug Design at SGU Campus, BSD City, Tangerang. This half day seminar was a collaboration between SGU and University of Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Malaysia.
The event was intended to enrich the faculty members & students at SGU and other participants with the new developments in various areas of research. In addition, this seminar enhanced and expanded international collaboration between SGU and international partners in education and research.
During the seminar, Dr. rer.-nat. Filiana Santoso, SGU Rector, delivered the opening speech to welcome all speakers and participants of the seminar. She believed that this international level seminar provided valuable knowledge and experience to the participants. “This seminar on Molecular Diagnostics, Proteomics, and Drug Design would be beneficial for those who are interested in the latest updates on research development related to food and health,” said Dr. Filiana.
There were three speakers during the event, who were Dr. Md. Shafiquzzaman Sidiqi (Biotechnology Research Institute, University Malaysia Sabah) presenting on “Electrochemical DNA sensing: Rapid Molecular Identification Tool in Clinical Diagnostic Diseases”; Assoc. Prof Dr. Azwan bin Awang (Faculty of Sustainable Agriculture, University Malaysia Sabah) presenting on “Elucidation of cocoa pod borer tolerance mechanism in Theobroma cacao by proteomic”; and Dr. Cahyo Budiman (Biotechnology Research Institute, University Malaysia Sabah) presenting on “Harnessing structure and function relationship of diseases causing proteins as platform for drug design”.
