SWISS GERMAN UNIVERSITY OPEN HOUSE
Jakarta, 10 October 2015 — More than 350 prospective university students and family members visited Swiss German University campus for the annual Open House, which was held for future Bachelor students academic year 2016/2017, the event displayed students activities through exhibitions from each faculties to show their activities in class to all visitors. Through the event, visitors were given an early glimpse of life as Swiss German University students as their gateway to global success.
“This year’s open house was the most well-attended open houses in recent years thanks to the dedication and hard work of all staff, lecturers, and students”, said SGU Vice Rector of Non Academic Affairs, Mr. Edward Boris Manurung, M. Eng during the event opening.
The open house was opened by SGU Director of Communication, Ms. Christie Kanter and followed by SGU Overview by Mr. Boris in which he explained SGU’s teaching philosophy, international focus, and priorities in character development, then testimony by SGU Alumni Benarivo from Mechatronics and Farica Sukma from Accounting who recently graduated in September 2015. This testimony gave a view to all audience of how Swiss German University provides the opportunity for all students to know the world of professional work directly through the Internship program in Indonesia on 3rd semester and in German on 6th semester. Both Benarivo and Farica were recruited by Siemens and Ernst & Young before they graduated.
“Before, I was just a student who came to school to learn and go home without other activities, but at the moment I am working on Siemens German I know how to appreciate the time and work with the team and that’s very different with working culture in Indonesia” said Benarivo. He graduate with GPA 3,95 and now he is working at Siemens Indonesia
Mr. YC Sutama, chairman of SGU parents association who is also SGU Master graduate in Mechanical Engineering also gave a testimony how he believes SGU as a place to continue his and his child education as a preparation for the next life.
Campus experience was also given through faculty and study program session in which prospective students and parents received specific explanation regarding study program as well as they have the opportunity to discuss with lecturers and students’ representative. For prospective students and parents whose interested to join SGU enrollment staff provided consultation table regarding enrollment procedure and fee also selling the form on the spot.
