Swiss German University (SGU) became one of the participants at the Indonesia 4.0 Conference & Expo on 23 and 24 August 2023 at the Grand Ballroom, JIEXPO Convention Center, Kemayoran, Jakarta.

Indonesia 4.0 Conference & Expo 2023 conducted in compliance with the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia as part of the Indonesian Ministry of Industry’s program, namely Making Indonesia 4.0. Making Indonesia 4.0 is an integrated program that has an agenda, namely to increase national development by expanding and utilizing Industry 4.0 technology to increase productivity, efficiency, value addition, competitiveness, and the sustainability of the national economy. This activity is an annual event of the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, which this year was held in collaboration with the Indonesian Industrial Digital Transformation Council (WANTRI) and the Event Organizer, namely Naganaya Indonesia.

At the 2023 Indonesia 4.0 Conference & Expo, SGU had the opportunity to participate as one of the exhibitors who also exhibited research results from lecturers and students that are relevant to Industry 4.0 technology, including the Dub-dub, a mini EKG that can be worn on the chest that can detect heart rate abnormalities in real-time; as well as a Microscope scanner that can detect cancer cells; an automatic seaweed wrapping machine; and the CSC-ISAC Public Dashboard, a dashboard that displays cyber-attack data visualizations that occur in educational institutions throughout Indonesia.

In addition, SGU’s Head of Research, Dr. Tanika D Sofianti, who is also an associate professor of Swiss German University in Industrial Engineering, was one of the panelists speakers in the session with the theme: Identifying New Growth Opportunities and Avenues through Sustainability Transformation. In this session Dr. Tanika conveyed how the phenomena that are currently happening related to Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0 have ushered in technological developments towards Industry 5.0 which emphasizes the use of digital technology that is strongly relevant with Industry 4.0 for the benefit of humans (human centric), sustainability and resilience. In this session, Dr Tanika also described the activities and collaborations that have been carried out by Swiss German University and the Center for Digital Industry Indonesia 4.0 (PIDI 4.0) which is a government agency part of the Industrial Human Resource Development Agency which is under the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, in its efforts to upskill and reskill human resources in the form of workshops, seminars and conferences. On this panel, Dr. Tanika delivered his presentation together with other prominent experts namely Affan A Alamudi, M.Sc, Senior Advisor to the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia; Franklin Kurniawan, M.Sc, the CEO of Opex Consulting Group; and Andi Budimansyah, M.Kom, Chairman of FTII (Indonesia Information Technology Federation) which is also an alumnus of Master of Information Technology of SGU. The panel was led by Anisa Pratita Kirana Mantovani, LLM, Head of Public Policy and Government Relations, Indonesian E-Commerce Association (idEA).

Swiss German University’s participation in this activity shows commitment, excellent communication and collaboration of Swiss German University with various stakeholders that support the development of Industry 4.0 technology in Indonesia including the government, business and industrial sector and the academics.
