Indosat Stock Trading Competition

On 6th April 2014, the Accounting Department of SGU together with Indosat, Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) PT Winratama Perkasa ("WinGamers"), and Kompas Gramedia Majalah managed an event named Indosat Stock Trading Competition (ISTC). The objectives of this event were to enhance people’s understanding of alternative investment in the capital market and learn how to conduct stock transactions virtually referring to the number of stock options traded "realtime" in IDX. Followed by 170 participants, ISTC successfully attracted not only SGU students from various departments, but also SGU staff member. SGU was chosen among 15 other universities across Indonesia that held this ISTC roadshow.

The ISTC consisted of two main events, the first one was a seminar presented by Mr. Fuad Fachroeddin from Indosat, Mr. Gusti Ngurah Sandiana from IDX, Mr. Daniel Agustinus from Sinarmas Sekuritas and Mr. Imron Rosyadi from Wingamers. The second event was the Online Trading Contest, supported by Wingamers’ application. Before the contest, participants were given guidance on how to do the online trading and received 1 billion rupiah capital of virtual money. The participant who managed the highest profit would be the winner and named “King of Investar.”

Maria Renata Rosari, semester 4 Accounting student was chosen as King of Investar. She won 1 million rupiah that will be spent to treat her friends and do online trading together. Besides the King of Investar, the top 10 participants received a 100 thousand rupiah voucher from Sinarmas Sekuritas to open an account. Moreover, all the participants received goodie bags and certificates from Indosat.

ISTC successfully gave all participants a new virtual trading experience and valuable knowledge on how to become a great stock investor. Using tagline of “Wujudkan Impianmu Menjadi Miliarder Muda”, we believe this event has initially attracted potential young investors especially in SGU.
