SGU Goes to Europe, a Ceremony bidding Farewell to Semester 6 Students
Jakarta, 20 January 2016 – Last Wednesday, SGU held an annual internship farewell ceremony for 6th semester students leaving for Germany & Switzerland for their internship program. All Students of semester 6 together with their parents and family members were invited to this event.
For the past 15 years, SGU has successfully sent over 2000 students to Europe for its internship program. This year, SGU will send around 250 students to Germany and Switzerland – contributing to the development of valuable Indonesian human resources who are equipped for global success.
The event started with the traditional Bajidur dance from West Java by the SGU Dance Club followed by the Opening speech by SGU’s Rector Dr. rer-nat Filliana Santoso. Representatives from the German Embassy, Mr. Jörg Kinnen and Dr. rer. publ. Steve Tharakan from the Swiss Embassy respectively, also gave encouraging speeches.

“The effort and investment that were put in by you, your family, and SGU to secure your internship place was not done easily. Therefore, make us all of proud by being a good ambassador for SGU and particularly for Indonesia.” said Dr. Filliana on her speech.
The audience also learned about the internship experience in Europe together with its benefits and added value, from SGU Semester 8 students together with the Vice President of Human Resources at PT. Siemens Indonesia, Mrs. Lola Harahap, the industry representative in a talk show session.

“As an educational institution serving an international curriculum and internship program, we industry practitioners believe that SGU will continue to produce graduates who are ready to work and compete in the Asian region and the rest of the world” said Mrs. Harahap about SGU graduates.
The event ended with a “scarf ceremony” by SGU’s Rector as a symbol of good wishes and safe return, and a Q and A session.
