Behind Mechatronics Day 2022
The growth of technology is an exponential curve, advancing continuously at a rate faster than imagined. As a result, the world and all in it must match up and adapt to this constant development. The advancement, though continual, is not evenly distributed across the globe; those developed countries further advance while developing countries continue to seek for ways of keeping up, at a much slower pace. Seeing this gap, the Mechatronics Student Association of Swiss German University would like to contribute in taking Indonesia to reach the same level of technological advancement as other developed countries. As a means of achieving this, Mechatronics Day is created, becoming one of Swiss German University’s biggest annual events.
Each year, we take on a different theme and title to match the competition and current world situation. Since the pandemic in 2020, not little have lost hope and motivation to continue on. Though 2 years have passed, the situation is still fairly unstable; the number of COVID-19 cases continue to oscillate with no hints of when it would stop or reach 0. But even amidst this crisis, technological advancement continues to break through, bringing never-before-seen innovations to life. Seeing the survival of technology in such an environment inspired us to push through and continue innovating despite the seemingly impossible conditions. From here, the title “A Walk-through Hyperspace” was born.
Hyperspace is defined to be a space of more than three dimensions. Impossible, right? But what if other dimensions do lie in space, just waiting to be discovered? A mix of science fiction and reality, a glimpse of what could be: hope. Something we would like to bring to lost and confused souls after the pandemic. The one question we focus on has come down to this: what if an alternate reality really does exist, what technological advancements could possibly be found? With “A Walk-through Hyperspace”, we would like to highlight the fact that innovation is limitless; there are no boundaries to what can or cannot exist today. By taking a walk-through Mechatronics Day 2022, a walk through hyperspace, we hope the audience could see the birth of never-before-seen innovations, created with a touch of science, art and glimmers of hope.
