SGU’s Food Technology Students Shine at IC-FANRES 2023 in Jember

Friday, December 1, 2023 – Building on the momentum from the event two weeks ago on Friday, November 17, 2023, organized by the Food Technology program within the Faculty of Life Science and Technology (FT FLST), two winning groups from the study trip to Jember presented their products at the International Conference of Food Agriculture and Natural Resources (IC-FANRES) 2023 in Jember.

The occasion served as an excellent platform for FT SGU to initiate collaboration in the commercialization of food research products with the Center for Coffee and Cocoa Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LPPM) at the University of Jember, East Java.

The two winning groups showcased their innovative products, reflecting the culmination of their study trip experiences and research efforts. This presentation at IC-FANRES allowed them to share their findings and discoveries with a broader audience, including fellow researchers, industry professionals, and academicians present at the conference.

In addition to presenting their projects, FT SGU seized the opportunity to formalize collaborations with the Center for Coffee and Cocoa Research and LPPM Univ Jember. This strategic partnership aims to advance the commercialization of research findings in the field of food technology and contribute to the broader scientific community.

Xavier, an FT SGU student who will be conducting research on cocoa in the upcoming semester, had a unique opportunity to perform experiments directly at the Center for Coffee and Cocoa Research. This hands-on experience not only enhances his academic journey but also strengthens the ties between SGU and research institutions, fostering an environment of collaborative learning and growth.

The participation in IC-FANRES 2023 and the subsequent collaborations underscore SGU’s commitment to providing students with practical exposure and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the scientific and industrial landscape. As SGU continues to foster such partnerships, students are empowered to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application, preparing them for impactful roles in their respective fields.
