TALKSHOW ON HOAX PREVENTION AND BOARDGAME COMPETITION ON INFORMATION LITERACY

SGU Library, in cooperation with Universitas Pelita Harapan Library and Multimedia Nusantara Library, held an event on 29 February 2020 with theme of Smart Citizen, Smart Learning and Smart Society, which consisted of a talkshow and boardgame competition in Mall Living World, Alam Sutera, Tangerang. The talkshow was interactively presented by Ismail Fahmi, an expert in information technology and social media and Hanna C. George, an expert in information literacy, and was attended by 42 information workers in Jakarta and the greater area.

The boardgame competition was participated by 36 high school and university students. This competition is unique because the questions raised were about information literacy which covers issues on hoaxes, smart searching in Google, plagiarism, paraphrasing, problem definition, and referencing style combined with having a strategy and the physical challenge of beating opponents in the game. In this competition, SGU was represented by 3 SGU students from semester 2, William Hartowidjojo (Information Technology), Jonathan Stevandhy (Pharmaceutical Engineering) and Niklas Parlindungan Simorangkir (Industrial Engineering) who placed in the top two.
