The Accounting Department Attended IFAC and IAI Gathering

On 16th November 2015, the Accounting Department’s 7th Semester students went to “Accounting Students Gathering with the President of IFAC (International Federation of Accountants) and IAI (Institute of Indonesia Chartered Accountants). The event was held together with the International Seminar of IAI 58th Anniversary Celebration attended by Ms. Imelda Suardi as the Head of SGU Accounting Department. With the theme “Inspiring Life of Accountant after Graduation”, this event was a very valuable opportunity for the 7th semester students and other students from various reputable universities in Indonesia to learn about strategic roles of accountants in the hyper-connected business world.

Held in Balai Kartini Jakarta, the event opened with a sharing session about “Life after Graduation” from business and public’s senior accountants, Herwan Ng (CFO Rio Tinto) and M. Yusuf John (Pusdiklat BPK). Then, the President of IFAC, Olivia Kirtley, explained about the impact of information, communication and technology development for the accountant profession, where the accountants need the right ability and knowledge in the business world. She also shared about her career experiences and provided motivation to the students.

The event was far more than simply hearing and note taking. Students received valuable knowledge about how to be inspiring accountants and have a vision of life after graduation.
