Swiss German University (SGU) Continues to Foster Global Leadership with the Global Youth Leadership Program (GYL) 2023 to Japan

Monday, December 11, 2023 – SGU proudly organized the Global Youth Leadership Program (GYL), a transformative initiative aimed at shaping the global mindset of 17 incoming students for the Academic Year 2024. Guided by SGU’s Vice Rector 2, Mrs. Nila Krisnawati, Mr. Ilham Akbar from Dirmarcomm, and Mr. Dave Simorangkir from Students Affairs, the program unfolded with a remarkable visit to one of SGU’s esteemed partner universities, Osaka University.

The delegation received a warm welcome from Prof. Fukusaki, Prof. Sastia, and an SGU alumna (Biomedical Engineering, Class of 2017) currently pursuing a master’s Program at Osaka University.

The itinerary at Osaka University encompassed various enlightening activities, including a lecture session on the technological innovations in the Japanese food industry by Prof. Honda. Prof. Fujita also explored potential collaboration opportunities between SGU and Osaka University, and the participants had the privilege of a campus tour guided by Osaka University students.

Beyond university visits, the GYL 2023 participants had the opportunity to explore one of Japan’s renowned industries, Chaterise, located in Tokyo.

The GYL initiative underscores SGU’s commitment to introducing new students to the global learning environment, preparing them for success in both their studies and future careers. The experiences gained during GYL 2023 will be continued through various learning engagement activities until the commencement of the New Academic Year in September 2024.

As SGU continues to foster an international perspective, GYL stands as a cornerstone in shaping the next generation of global leaders, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed for success in an interconnected world. (Vid/DM)
