SGU and Badan Siber dan Sandi Negara (BSSN) Supports the Indonesian Government in Cyber Security

Tangerang, 25 November 2018 – In the Global Security Index 2017 data released by ITU-D, the telecommunication development division of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) organization, Indonesia was indexed with a value of 0.424 and was ranked 70th globally and 16th in the Asia Pacific region. Indonesia’s status is categorized as a country that is “on the way to readiness” or Maturing. Compared to other countries in the Asia Pacific such as Malaysia which is ranked 3rd in the world, and Singapore which occupies the top position both globally and regionally, of course Indonesia has a big challenge to resolve cyber security issues. Collaboration between stakeholders, both in the fields of government, private sector and also educational institutions is needed to realize an integrated cyber security.

In collaboration with Badan Siber dan Sandi Negara (BSSN) and Indonesia Honeynet Project (IHP), Swiss German University’s Master of Information Technology study program held a National Seminar and Workshop on Enhancing Detection Capability and Coordination of National Cyber Security Incidents. This seminar aims to enhance collaboration between academics, the Government, and cyber security practitioners in conducting joint research in detecting potential threats and cyber-attacks so they can be responsive to cyber security incidents.

SGU Rector, Dr. rer. nat. Filiana Santoso and Head of BSSN, Dr. Djoko Setiadi, M.Sc. shake hands after giving a token of appreciation.

The event was attended by around 250 participants from various institutions from the Government, the private sector, education, and the community.
